The 29th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 25th September 1804 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Sancho, a bay colt by Don Quixote out of a sister to Maid of All Work, owned by Mr Harry Mellish. A field of 11 runners contested the race, although there were 24 subscriptions of 25 guineas each, which was worth 600 Guineas. (Equivalent to £59,800 in 2017)
